New Airbitat Compact Cooler Wins CES 2020 Climate Change Innovator Award

Industry: Environment

Innosparks has been recognised as a CES® 2020 Eureka Park® Climate Change Innovator Award winner for its breakthrough innovation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Singapore (PRUnderground) January 2nd, 2020

Innosparks, an ST Engineering Open Innovation Lab, today announced that its new Airbitat Compact Cooler has been recognised as a CES® 2020 Eureka Park® Climate Change Innovator Award winner for its breakthrough innovation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). It also reduces electricity use by up to 80 percent compared to air-conditioning of a similar capacity, while delivering 50 percent more effective cooling than conventional evaporative coolers.

Powered by its innovative ReevacTM Deep Cooling Technology, the Airbitat Compact Cooler delivers industrial-strength cooling in a compact-size with no energy-hungry compressors and zero waste heat generation to the environment. It also does not use chemical refrigerants, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), or emit harmful chemicals. Built to weather outdoor conditions, it runs quietly with fuss-free maintenance to ensure hygiene and optimal performance in outdoor commercial and residential spaces such as alfresco dining areas, home patios and garages.

Mr. Gareth Tang, Senior Vice President, Technology, and Head of Innosparks, ST Engineering said, “We are honoured to receive this recognition which highlights our commitment to sustainability and reducing environmental impact. The Airbitat Compact Cooler truly raises the bar in sustainable cooling, and is a great example of how we are applying technology and engineering to create innovative solutions to address some of the biggest issues of the world today.”

Powerful Cooling, even in the Most Challenging Environments

Most evaporative coolers use a one-stage process that involves passing warm air over wet, evaporative media to create evaporation and hence, the cooling effect. In this process, evaporative cooling is limited by the ambient environment, with humid conditions inhibiting cooling performance.

The innovative engineering design of the ReevacTM Deep Cooling Technology enables powerful cooling performance even in challenging environments such as humid tropical climates and arid desert climates. An inbuilt cold water generator creates a reservoir of cold water which works as a natural refrigerant in a heat exchanger to remove heat from the air stream. This cool air is then passed through a high performance evaporator, before emerging as deeply cooled airstreams.

“The world is heating up and the need for sustainability has never been more pressing. We’ve been helping organisations cool more sustainably and are pleased to now bring our technology to small businesses and home owners to help them be more sustainable,” added Mr. Tang.

Organised by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA®), the owner and producer of CES®, the Climate Change Innovator Awards recognise emerging innovations that help to improve the environment and the lives of consumers. Winners were selected by a committee of GHG and industry experts based on the demonstrated and quantified potential of their technologies to reduce GHG emissions.

The Airbitat Compact Cooler will make its global debut at the Innosparks stand at Eureka Park (Sands Expo, Hall G – 52502) at CES 2020, 7-10 January 2020, Las Vegas, United States.
