Search and Seizure: Overcoming Illness and Adversity follows Marc Hoberman’s journey as a teen up to the present day as a high school English teacher. His story will resonate with parents and teens alike. Moving from his home in New York to Florida was difficult enough, but his diagnosis of epilepsy at the age of 17 was almost too much to bear. Although feeling depressed and lost at times, he was able to utilize his support system of family and friends as well as his sense of humor to make sure that he was not defined by his illness. He decided to define himself.
Marc’s memoir has received a Five Star Review from Readers’ Favorite Review and has won Honorable Mention in several book festivals. This is a great read that is fast and replete with interesting characters and emotional, yet humorous stories along the way. Parents and teens alike will identify with the message that Marc Hoberman weaves into this memoir.
About Grade Success
As an English teacher for more than 30 years and camp administrator and consultant for almost as long, Marc has come to realize that children today need to learn how to deal with the often unexpected struggles in their lives.. I wrote my memoir to help teens and their parents navigate through myriad issues that often confront them when they least expect it. Bullying, drug use, depression, and teen suicide have touched the lives of far too many young people; it’s important for them to see that there are ways to avoid the negative outcomes that some have experienced.
My novel received a Five Star Review from Reader’s Favorite Review and Honorable Mention in the New England and Southwestern Book Festivals as well as Runner Up in the New York Book Festival.
In my years in education, tutoring, and camp consulting, I was voted into Who’s Who in American Teachers and have been a featured speaker at the Young Adult Institute (YAI) Conference in New York City, the New York State and New Jersey Reading Conferences, the Tristate Camping Conference in New York and New Jersey, and The Canada Camping Conference. As the owner of Grade Success Tutoring for over twenty years, I have helped many of my clients work through much more than just tests and academics. I have helped with a large amount of personal, physical, and emotional difficulties.
Many of my articles have been featured in newspapers, parent and camp magazines, and more. It is my hope to help people reach their full potential.
