Sanguine Press’ First Anthology Boasts Characters of Color with “No Regrets”

Industry: Books

Sanguine Press, a new indie publishing house featuring stories centering on people of color, has announced the stories for their first anthology.

Austin, TX (PRUnderground) September 16th, 2016

Sanguine Press, a new indie publishing house featuring stories centering on people of color, has announced the first five stories for their first anthology, slated for December 2016. The anthology, titled Transitions & Awakenings: No Regrets, is an eclectic mix of sci-fi, horror, and fantasy stories highlighting characters of color across multiple ethnicities.

The central theme to the anthology is the idea that each story explores challenges and perspectives through the lens of one or more characters who feel “no regrets” about their actions. A full list of all ten stories slated for publication, along with teaser copy for each one can be found directly on the Indiegogo campaign site.

When asked about the focus for the anthology, and why choose to only feature characters of color, lead editor Ereika Collins Stimley had this to say: “…the importance of representation and true diversity versus lip service cannot be overstated. Everyone deserves the opportunity to see themselves as the hero, and to have their experiences explored and validated through creative media. Sanguine Press is just one small publishing company, but we’re looking to make a big impact going forward.”

The current Indiegogo campaign offers supporters guaranteed access to an ebook or print version of the first ten stories, with up to fifteen additional slated to be added to the book or website depending on funding levels for the crowdfunding campaign.

Interested parties can review the full story lineup and support the campaign directly on Indiegogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/transitions-and-awakenings-no-regrets#/
